Mosaic Castles
This five-panel futon cover, woven in or near the town of Kurume, displays the consummate skill of the best kasuri weavers and dyers. Both the warp and weft yarns were resist dyed very precisely before weaving. The weaver had to maintain a constant tension on the loom so that the finished panels would match. The structures on the top and bottom represent either castles or temples.
